France Christmas tradition, especially in Paris is almost a time of extraordinary joyous holiday when people take themselves in several gala activities.

Traditional Christmas is called ‘Noel’ in France. Although different places, observes the festival in different ways, however the custom of making Christmas log-shaped cake, called ‘buche de Nol’, implying "Christmas Log” is rather common. On the Christmas Eve, almost every people in Paris and also all over France, join ‘la Messe de Minuitor’ or the midnight mass happening at the closed church. After the midnight mass, every members in family enjoy the late supper called "le réveillon" with many traditional dishes such as buckwheat cakes with soured cream, huitres, foie gras, turkey, chestnuts and savoury wines, for example, ‘Muscadet’, ‘Anjou’, ‘Sauterne’ and Champagne are already prepared. Especially, the little children consider this occasion as a time to get presents, so they put their shoes in front of the fire place in their houses to get some candy, fruits, nuts, and even some small toys from Père Noël.

Traditional Christmas festivities in France are not the same in dissimilar areas of the country, when a few areas observe Christmas on 25th Dec, in the east and north areas of France, Christmas celebrations start on 6 Dec called ‘la fête de Saint Nicolas’. However, in southern France, ‘Le pain calendeau’, a special kind of Christmas bread, is given out to the poor. So, the France Christmastime tradition shows not only their special way of observing Christmas Day from other countries but also a fantastic overview of French culture. There is a certain that Christmas Eve in Paris is one of the most sparkling Christmas night in the world.
